Abstract: With the surface carbon dioxide (CO2) emission of about 130 t/km2, Serbia is one of the world's most contaminated countries. The key participants in this unpopular result are industry and traffic. In Serbia transport system, due to the poor conditions of the railway and river transport, the dominance of the road transport is expressed. The calculation on the main route in Serbia, Corridor X, has a total surface balance of carbon dioxide emission from road vehicles approximately of about 10 t/km2, which represents 7.7% of the total balance of Serbia. Heavy road vehicles on the Corridor X participate with only 13% of flows but they emit 42% of carbon dioxide, or about 3.2% of total carbon dioxide emission in Serbia. Remediation costs of this emission according to the MARCAL methodology are over 45,000,000.00 euro per year. This paper offers the methodology of carbon dioxide emission calculation as well as the estimation of the remediation of the part of the emission applying the transportation-logistics systems on the Corridor X. The paper is a part of the project TR 36012 financed by the Ministry of Science of Republic of Serbia.
