Abstract: This paper illustrates a device used for set-top box testings. The primary idea was to create a system which can be used for field work. It would be a part of a bigger system which could test both, input and output functions of end users devices. Its modularity and low-power consumption are one of key benefits of this device. Further improvements on power consumption can lead to developing a system which is powered via a USB connection. The system applies FPGA to implement constant streaming. A USB microcontroller is used as an interface toward a personal computer on which a grabbed digital data is stored, or used as a video generator transmitting video samples and video test patterns. © 2013 IEEE.
