Abstract: Contemporary SCADA solutions are designed to handle large amounts of data which derives from the large scale systems they operate on. Irregular situations, such as outages and failures, can be intolerable in that environment, and it falls often to the operator to handle such occurrences as soon as possible. This paper introduces a framework, which extends an existing SCADA architecture - oSCADA, with the concept of alarms and events, providing at the same time the timely notification of a problem and ability to maintain a history of events and performed actions. © 2013 IEEE.
