How speech technologies can help people with disabilities

© Springer International Publishing Switzerland 2014. Neither eyes nor arms are necessary in human-machine speech communication. Both human and machine just speak and/or listen, or machine does it instead of people. Therefore, speech communication can help people who cannot use their eyes or arms. Apart from both the visually impaired and physically disabled, speech technology can also help to the speech impaired and the hearing impaired, as well as to the elderly people. This paper is a review how speech technologies can be useful for different kind of persons with disabilities.
