Abstract: © 2017 Taylor & Francis Group, LLC. The ecological problems caused by traffic are some of the greatest pollution problems in urban environments, making the trend of researching replenishable energy sources more widespread. Ethanol–a liquid fuel gained via agricultural means–is a replenishable energy source. This fuel can completely replace fossil fuel in internal combustion engines. This work will present the main properties of ethanol, the world trend in ethanol production, as well as the possibility of the manufacture and application of ethanol fuel in Serbia.
