Abstract: © 2017 IEEE. Significant increasing in the final energy consumption and limitations of the current energy sector has strongly require development of renewable energy sector. Additionally, efficient harvesting of the locally available potential will become of the utmost importance. In that regard, the international research community has recognized the immense potential of wave energy conversion systems as part of the solution to the increased consumption problem. Even though it is not a novel concept, recently heightened interest in this area has led to important development of the technology. Based on the linear wave theory, this paper will present the basic parameters that specify the amount of available wave energy. The power take-off system based on sigma wave energy converter was assumed and the corresponding control of the electrical generator was applied for the simulation. The paper will present the simulation results, offering the verification of the proposed control strategy with special reference to the achieved capture width value.
