Android application for collaborative mapping in emergency situations

Abstract

© 2017 IEEE. In this paper we present an Android application for collaborative mapping and awareness in emergency situations based on Google Firebase platform. The main purpose of the application is to act as a tool for firefighters and other emergency workers that allow them to visually communicate the situation in the field by collaboratively creating a map and uploading multimedia files. The application was developed using Android framework with Firebase authentication and real-time database that allow secure authentication and real-time capabilities and at the same time significantly shorten the development time.
