Abstract: In this paper the influence of print enhancement on different kinds of substrates and their visual appearance induced in observer as the final consumer is examined. The effects resulted by variable factors as different amount of applied varnish, application techniques and drying technologies have been analysed. The effects have been theoretically discussed as a presumption of the verification and the depiction of the human visual perception through the changes in the physical phenomena of light. Investigation has been done through the measurement of all necessary data for the precise definition of the influence of different types and amounts of coating materials for print enhancement and their influence on the visual appearance. An adequate colour measurement instruments and appropriate software analysis has been used. The results have been statistically processed and presented in the form which enables the confirmation of the presumptions that the application of glossy in different amounts results in different increases of the colour saturation which have been associated with the larger values of the specular component of the reflectance.
