Abstract: This paper presents a system for functional and quality failure detection in TV sets based on novel full-reference video quality assessment approach. The proposed system captures video signal from a TV set and compares the video (on image basis) to the reference one, specified for the corresponding TV set under investigation. The algorithm for failure detection has been developed to detect digital picture degradations introduced by different TV sets. The proposed system is fully automated and assesses the acceptability of TV set quality display with high level of robustness against different operational modes and settings in TV sets. ©2010 IEEE.
