Abstract: Paper presents modelling of boundary/interface conditions by application of "special" FE: "nonlinear spring", "link" and "gap" FE. Modelling of boundary/interface conditions is very important step in FEM modelling process, because the real structural behaviour strongly depends on characteristics of supports/interfaces. Concept of "nonlinear spring" "link" and "gap" FE application in FEM modelling of engineering structures are analysed here. Some theoretical considerations are given only in an optimal amount. Various numerical examples are analysed as an illustration of proposed concept of special FE application. © Civil-Comp Press, 2009.
