Abstract: The paper analyses the control problem of the fixed speed wind energy conversion system based on the grid connected PMSG drive train and series converter located in its star point. It proposes unique approach to modeling of different types of sinusoidal PMSG in quasistationary operation. This provides basis for the development of the control algorithm whose primary function is active damping of the system. Additionally, detailed description is given of the design of the dc bus voltage control loop. Finally, the performance of the system and the control algorithm was validated by means of simulations and tests performed on the experimental setup. © 2010 IEEE.
