Abstract: The molecular structure of 1-(Hydroxymethyl)-3,5-dimethylpyrazole was determined from single crystals obtained by recrystallization from acetone. The compound was first synthesized by a reaction of 3,5-dimethylpyrazole with paraformaldehyde. Hydrogen atoms were found in a difference Fourier map and refined by using an isotopic approximation. It was found that the refined C-H bond lengths are in the range 0.95 (2)-1.04 (2) Å and the O-H bond length is 0.88 (2) Å.
