This paper presents the problems that are inherent to biomedical signals. These problems might devastate the efforts for transmission optimization, as the signal is corrupted before entering the communication channel. A possible solution might be to include experts of different fields, in particular the end users, to make a comprehensive analysis of their needs and knowledge about the signal, and to pre-process the signal accordingly. © VDE VERLAG GMBH.en
