Abstract: XQuery is a standard language for querying XML (eXtensible Markup Language) documents. However, in the real life, people normally use uncertain data and want to query with the criteria that depends on the user's preference. But the standard XQuery language cannot search criteria based on uncertain and imprecise query. An alternative solution to this problem would be to use fuzzy logic with XQuery queries. In this paper, we propose a way to fuzzify XQuery language and implement an interpreter for a derivate using native XML database. Fuzzy logic extended XQuery queries are translated to standard XQuery queries and executed against an existing XML native database. Obtained results are then processed using fuzzy logic mechanisms in order to obtain the final results. © 2012 IEEE.
