Sažetak: This paper describes an example of using remote databases within an automated reasoning system. It gives a brief history of automated reasoning systems development and review of existing techniques for using databases in automated reasoning systems. It shows some capabilities of automated reasoning system development in the field of using remote databases. Baselog deductive system as an automated reasoning system has been improved by adding a module for using remote databases. This module enables the system to search for literals, for which the conclusion couldn't be derived, in a relational database which is stored on a remote computer within an intranet or on the Internet. After the searched data has been found, they are transferred to the Baselog system, in order to be used by a deductive system for deduction of a different answer. The implemented solution could use relational databases from different DBMS systems that can be stored on different servers within LAN or Internet. The concept of using Baselog automated reasoning system as a module of distributed information system for a lung diseases hospital is presented. © 2007 by MIPRO.
