Abstract: This paper proposes and evaluates an approach for managing devices over the network using TR-069 and TR-111 protocols. Method relies on a server push mechanism that enables instant initiation of interaction with a device. TR-069 foresees that the communication between a device and the configuration server is the sole responsibility of the device. Therefore the so called 'connection request' mechanism that enables the server to initiate a session is necessary. The role of the mechanism is to enable the server to authenticate at the device side and in that way initiate a session with the client. In case of TR-069 the connection request mechanism is based on Hyper Text Transfer Protocol (HTTP) and the device acts as an HTTP server. In a case when device is behind Network Address Translation (NAT) gateway TR-111 connection request is used, in which case the device acts as an UDP server. © 2013 IEEE.
