Abstract: Copyright © Taylor & Francis Group, LLC. Transportation and distribution of gas inevitably results in gas losses which depend on many factors: manner and type of transport, quality of transport systems, quality of gaseous fuel, quality and adjustment of metering devices, etc. This article describes the main characteristics of natural gas and reviews the consumption and production as well as losses in transportation and distribution of natural gas for the region of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina (Serbia). Effects of natural gas loss reduction during transportation and distribution are analyzed from the example of one distributor after implementation of appropriate measures.
