Title: | Workers’ Strikes in present day Yugoslavia | Issue Date: | 1-Jan-1980 | Journal: | Journal of Area Studies Series 1 | Abstract: | The following note consists of the translation, of extracts from Professor Jovanov's recent book, Radnicki Strajkovi u SFRJ (Workers’ strikes in the Socialist Federative Republic of Yugoslavia), Zapis Publishers, Belgrade, 1979. The book covers the period 1958 to 1969 and contains both the results of empirical surveys and a political, legal and sociological analysis of this phenomenon and of its wider context. Although Yugoslav sociologists, political scientists and political leaders have published relatively widely on this subject, this is the first exhaustive study in book form coming from Yugoslavia, or indeed from any other socialist country, which focuses on strikes under present day socialism (see bibliography, pp. 211-219, of his book). © 1980, Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.
