Abstract: © 2015 D. Beuković, I. Jajić, S. Krstović, M. Beuković, V.M. Lavadinović, M. Đan & N. Veličković. We evaluated a rapid, sensitive, accurate and precise method to determine lead and cadmium concentrations in tissue samples of brown hare using Electrothermal Atomic Absorption Spectrometry. We evaluated the following parameters: linearity, accuracy, reproducibility, detection, and quantification limits. The limit of detection and the limit of quantification were 4.26 and 12.90 μg/kg for lead and 2.32 and 7.04 μg/kg for cadmium, respectively. Good linearity was shown for both elements. We evaluated accuracy by spike recovery tests using kidney and liver tissue samples. Recovery values ranged from 81.6% to 107.0%. Overall measured uncertainties were 33% for lead and 29% for cadmium. Our results documented that this analytical method can be used for the accurate determination of lead and cadmium in liver and kidney samples of brown hare.
