A system for identifying and sorting of cigarettes in case was designed and implemented by using the machine vision technique and the application of robot to improve the identification accuracy and the sorting efficiency. The system collects cigarette cases' image information by using the USB camera, then, starting from detection of the characteristics of the cigarette cases, uses the Matlab tool to analyze and deal with the three features of barcode, color and handwriting to identify the authenticity, and finally controls the gripper to do cigarette sorting.
