In the recent decades, climate change, one of the greatest environmental, social and economic threats has taken great attention of the scientific and political public. In this paper are discussed legal frameworks relevant for the protection of the climate change both globally and within the Republic of Serbia borders. There was also emphasised the need for further harmonisation of national legislation with international trends in the field of climate change, as well as with the obligations arising from ratified international documents and the process of European integration. Although a significant progress in the fight against climate change in the Republic of Serbia began with the process of European Union integration and harmonisation of the national legislation with the European Union, the authors suggest that there is still a need to improve institutional and legal framework at both national and local levels. In Serbia, the energy sector is the largest source of GHG, but it is also the sector with the greatest potential for the application of mitigation measures. | URI: | https://open.uns.ac.rs/handle/123456789/2456 | ISSN: | 02094541 |
