Abstract: An ultra-compact dual-band resonator is presented based on a three-dimensional Hilbert fractal curve, with the overall dimensions equal to only λg/25xλg/25xλg/25, where λg denotes the guided wavelength at the first resonant frequency. Although in essence being a conventional half-wavelength resonator, 3-D Hilbert resonator can also be used as a dual-band resonator since its first and second harmonic resonances can be independently controlled due to its multilayer geometry. The resonator has been fabricated in Low Temperature Co-fired Ceramics (LTCC) technology using DuPont 951 Green Tape and a very good agreement between the simulated and measured responses has been obtained, proving LTCC to be very suitable for the fabrication of multilayer microwave passive devices.
