Sažetak: © 2018 Elsevier Ltd In the article ‘Three climatic cycles recorded in a loess-palaeosol sequence at Semlac (Romania)–Implications for dust accumulation in south-eastern Europe’ (Zeeden et al., 2016) we employed rock magnetic and grain size proxy data in combination with OSL- and correlative age models. The data and dating is combined to discuss glacial-interglacial paleoclimate variability in an Eurasian context. This dataset was also interpreted regarding the dust source in the eastern Carpathian (Middle Danube) Basin. We observed a systematic mistake in the absolute values of the mass normalized magnetic susceptibility (χ), which originates in an incorrect conversion of instrument readings to SI units. This change in absolute χ values has no major influence on the interpretation of the chronological investigations, the comparison of relative proxy variability and the residual analysis. However, our statement that the rather low values in χ B indicate dissimilarity to other geoarchives from the Carpathian Basin, but are more similar to Middle Pleistocene loess from the Black Sea region, is no longer substantiated with the corrected χ values (see chapter 5.2. of Zeeden et al., 2016). Nevertheless, the correction of the absolute χvalues at Semlac (χ B = 1.6*10 −7 m 3 /kg) lead to a different background susceptibility (χ B ), but it is still in the same range as proposed by (Forster et al., 1994; 1.7 ± 0.2*10 −7 m 3 /kg) and (Buggle et al., 2014). Below, we provide an update of Fig. 4. [Figure presented] Corrected Fig. 4: Low field susceptibility (χ@310 Hz, in m 3 /kg) vs. frequency dependent susceptibility (χΔ = χ@310-χ@3000, in m 3 /kg). All samples follow a clear trend showing increasing χ with increasing χΔ. The correlation, marked by the “true loess line” points to magnetic enhancement caused by climatically controlled weathering of homogeneous parent loess. The calculated detrital background susceptibility for Semlac is in range with the average value found for Central Asian and Chinese loess by Forster et al. (1994).
