Title: | Effect of preceding crop on growth dynamics, yield and quality of carrot | Authors: | Markovi V. Ilin, Žarko Djurovka M. Lazić, Bojan |
Issue Date: | 1-Dec-2002 | Journal: | Acta Horticulturae | Abstract: | The correct choice of the preceding crop is of paramount importance in carrot production. To study the effects of different preceding crops on the performance of the carrot variety Nantes, a field trial was established at the Rimski Sancevi Experiment Field of the Institute of Field and Vegetable Crops in Novi Sad on a chernozem soil. The trial included three preceding crops: monoculture, carrots after peppers, and carrots after peas. The results of the three-year trial (1997-1999) showed that the most intensive growth, highest yield and best quality of carrot roots were obtained after peppers. Pea, although a legume, was a less effective preceding crop than pepper regarding the dynamics of growth, yield and dry matter content in carrot roots. | URI: | https://open.uns.ac.rs/handle/123456789/16234 | ISBN: | 9789066059252 | ISSN: | 05677572 |
