DETERMINATION OF CUTTING-TOOL RELIABILITY ON FLEXIBLE AUTOMATIC LINES

Abstract

The determination of the cutting-tool reliability is usually based on the reliability data collected in a long term period. However, when dealing with flexible lines that small batches are characterized with the condition for long term collection of data do not exist. On the other hand it is well known that the failures always follow the Weibull distribution. It gives the opportunity for defining the procedure for determining the distribution parameters through the median rank based on the small number of observations.
