Solid state fermentation of corn stover by mutant strain of Chaetomium cellulolyticum

Abstract

Mutant strains of Chaetomium cellulolyticum were obtained by adition of different quantities of zinc (as ZnCl2) into growth medium. These strains were tested for protein - enriched feed production by solid state fermentation of roughly grounded, and of alkali - pretreated corn stover. Best results were obtained by solid state fermentation of alkali - pretreated corn stover, when additional quantities of zinc (8.3 mg of ZnSO4 per gram of stover dry substance) were applied.
