Abstract: A calcium phosphate/poly-d,l-lactide-co-glycolide (BCP/DLPLG) composite biomaterial was synthesized in the shape of spherical granules (150-200 μm) and nanostructured particles (30-40 nm) by an emulsification/evaporation procedure. Calcium phosphate components were coated with amorphous polymer phase. The influence of the processing technique on the structure and characteristics of the BCP/DLPLG composite biomaterial was studied by X-ray diffraction analysis (XRD), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), scanning electronic microscopy (SEM), and atomic force microscopy (AFM). In vitro cytotoxicity research was conducted on cellular cultures of fibroblasts of animals. The possibility of BCP/DLPLG application was examined by its use in reparation of lost bone tissue of patients. © 2006 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
