Abstract: The abilities of naphthenic methyl esters (five synthetic and one natural) to suppress adrenaline autoxidation and superoxide and hydroxyl radicals generation were investigated using adrenaline/adrenochrome and deoxyribose/ thiobarbituric acid systems. We found that synthetic compounds 3 and 4 exhibited high superoxide and hydroxyl radicals scavenger activity and also showed physiological activity. It seems that physiological properties of substances 3 and 4 comes from their scavenger activity against superoxide and hydroxyl radicals. Natural naphthenic methyl ester (compound 6) exhibited very high physiological activity in spite of its pure antioxidant ability. This type of compounds should be proved to be useful for contemporary plant production.
