Title: | Carpometacarpal Dislocation of the Thumb Associated with Ipsilateral Fracture of the Distal Radius | Authors: | Miroslav Milankov Nataša Miljković |
Keywords: | CMC dislocation;Trapezium fracture;Trapeziometacarpal fracture;dislocation | Issue Date: | 1-Jan-1997 | Journal: | Journal of Orthopaedic Trauma | Abstract: | An acute carpometacarpal (CMC) dislocation of the thumb is itself an extremely rare injury, but one associated with a fracture of the distal radius has never before been reported. In our case, the fracture of the distal radius was treated by closed reduction and immobilization with a plaster cast, whereas the dislocation of the CMC of the thumb was treated with closed reduction, percutaneous fixation with Kirschner wires, and immobilization with a plaster cast. At the patient's two-year follow-up examination, the distal radius fracture displayed successful functional and radiographic results, but a subluxation of the CMC joint was evident. | URI: | https://open.uns.ac.rs/handle/123456789/15297 | ISSN: | 8905339 | DOI: | 10.1097/00005131-199705000-00017 |
