Mixed-ligand complexes of Co(II) and Co(III) with tetraor octaazamacrocycles and a bicyclic dicarboxylate ligand

Abstract

Two cationic mixed-ligand complexes, [Co(L)cyc]NO3·< C2H5OH (A) and [Co2(L)tpmc](ClO4)2 CH3CN (B), were prepared, where eye = 1,4,8,11-tetraaza-cyclotetradecane, tpmc = N,N′,N″,N‴-tetrakis(2-pyridylmethyl)-1,4,8,11-tetraaza- cyclotetradecane and L = bicyclo[2.2.1]-hept-5-en-endo-2,3-cis-dicarboxylate dianion. The complexes were characterized by elemental analyses, ion-exchange chromatography, magnetic moments, conductance measurements, IR, 13C NMR and UV/VIS spectroscopy and cyclic voltammetry. It is suggested that the complexes A and B have octahedral structures with endobidentate or exo-(bis) - bidentate coordination of L.
