Abstract: In binary systems MeO/Al2O3 (Me = Mg, Zn, Cu), the accelerated polymorphic transformation of alumina to α-Al2O3 was observed in the presence of Cu2+. The phenomenon is explained as catalytic, considering the Cu2+ electron configuration and Jahn-Teller effect. © Akadémiai Kiadó, All rights reserved.
