The paper discusses the impact of heat treatment on selected characteristic group of textile materials printed in digital ink jet technology. In the theoretical considerations the key findings of relevant research related to quality control associated with the difference in colour prints on various textile substrates that were subjected to heat treatment have been analyzed. Further analysis has been done in the proposed colour models and colour difference calculations, as well as in the changes in the structure of the used materials after the heat treatment. For the characterization of the materials, four different textile materials have been used. The materials were printed using digital ink jet technology, and the appropriate colour gamut through the use of ICC profiles was determined with a spectrophotometer. The printed materials were thermally treated within a predefined temperature interval, and a thermal imaging camera was used to obtain images of the surface temperature conditions of the heated surface. For the appropriate temperatures colour differences were calculated in the selected standard colour space (CMC 2:1), and all changes in the colour range through the variation in the colour gamut was analyzed. For investigating the changes for the printed and heat treated textile materials structures SEM recordings were used. The obtained results and their analysis have confirmed some earlier researches and theoretical backgrounds.en_US
