dc.description.abstractThe nonlinear equations describing in-plane deformation of a rotating elastic rod, taking into account shear effect, are derived. It is shown that the critical rotation speed is determined from the linearized equation. The nonlinear equilibrium equations are solved numerically and the effect of shear on maximal deflection is studied. © 1991 Springer-Verlag.en
