We show that every L-fuzzy covering is obtained by synthesis of crisp coverings arising from the corresponding cut orderings. As a converse, we introduce and investigate lattice-valued relations, which turn out to be fuzzy coverings of fuzzy orders. © 2007 Elsevier B.V.
