Title: | A new worm gear drive with ground double arc profile | Authors: | Simon V. | Issue Date: | 1-Jan-1994 | Journal: | Mechanism and Machine Theory | Abstract: | A new type of cylindrical worm gear drive is developed. The worm is ground by a grinding wheel of a double arc profile, and the obtained worm profile is concave. The teeth of the gear are processed by a hob whose generator surface corresponds to the worm surface. On the basis of the tooth contact analysis and of the analysis of elastohydrodynamic lubrication, the comparison of performance characteristics of the new type and of the commonly used worm gear drives is carried out. The obtained results show the advantages of the new type: the favorable position of the instantaneous contact lines, higher load carrying capacity of the oil film, and reduced EHD power losses. © 1994. | URI: | https://open.uns.ac.rs/handle/123456789/10040 | ISSN: | 0094114X | DOI: | 10.1016/0094-114X(94)90126-0 |
