dc.description.abstract© 2015 IEEE. Future Internet of Things (IoT) scenarios include a great number of devices with low power requirements to ensure longevity. Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) provides ultra low power communication protocols. This paper presents a solution for power consumption monitoring and power limitation control of household products. The presented design called Smart Plug is based on an outlet device and a proprietary application running on a cell phone or a tablet without any requirements for additional gateways. Comparison between competitive devices on the market based on other technologies and their limitations is included as well.en
