dc.description.abstract© 2017, Universitatea Babes-Bolyai. All Rights Reserved. This article deals with the issue of low fertility in Serbia. In the case of the municipality of Bela Palanka, the authors made an attempt to establish the actual causes of this phenomenon and to examine the attitudes of the female population considering their decision against parturition, i.e. giving birth to more children. Based on the research results, some measures of population policy are proposed which can be implemented at the local level. The same measures can be applied in the case of any other municipality in Serbia with a similar demographic situation.en
