Abstract: Transition metal perchlorate complexes with nitrogen-rich formamidine ligand belong to energetic compounds. The increasing interest in new explosives is a good ground to develop safer compounds with relatively simple synthesis. In this publication the synthesis, structural and thermal properties of Ni(II), Co(II) and Zn(II) perchlorate complexes with N,N’-bis(4-acetyl-5-methylpyrazole-3-yl)formamidine (ampf) ligand are reported. The crystal and molecular structure of the nickel(II) complex, [Ni(ampf)(H2O)3](ClO4)2 is determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction. The complexes were characterized by IR spectrometry, powder X-ray analysis and thermal methods.
