In this paper a mobile system designed for continuous health monitoring of Individuals is presented. The system is self configurable, supports multiple simultaneous measurements and can be easily adapted to suit specific circumstances and requirements of each patient. The architecture of the system is described. Experience gained during a prototype implementation is presented as well. A particular focus is given to a XML based communication framework the system is based on. XML gives a considerable flexibility required to describe a variety of sensor types and their parameters. © 2005 IEEE.en
