Abstract: The effects of the reaction mixture composition (solvent, electrolyte, the amount of water and pyrrole) current density and temperature on the electrical conductivity, thickness and morphology of the polypyrrole films prepared electrochemically on Pt anodes under galvanostatic conditions have been studied A reactor of special construction for chemical polymerization of pyrrole initiated by K 3 Fe(CN) 6 has been developed in which it is possible to perform the polymerization at constant concentration of Fe 3+ ions The kinetics of the pyrrole polymerization has been studied and the order of the reaction with respect to both pyrrole and K 3 Fe(CN) 6 has been determined to be 1 and 2.6 , respectively A procedure for preparing electrically conducting membranes by chemical polymerization of pyrrole in the pores of the macroporous membrane has been developed. The electrochemical properties of polypyrrole have been determined, and it has been proved that polypyrrole spread on the iron surface strongly protects it from the corrosion.
